As your Conservative Councillor since 1989, I am aware of the issues of local importance. I live in Morton and am a former company director and management consultant who has taken early retirement. I am currently the Deputy Leader of the Council.
Over the last 4 years, we have halted the relentless increases in Council Tax whilst maintaining front-line services. Over the next 4 years, we pledge that there will be no increase in our Council Tax. We will expand our initiatives to ensure that our District is cleaner, greener and safer. We will introduce a Community Infrastructure Levy on future developments so we can invest in schools, health, leisure centres and play areas, highway improvements and utilities. But we will resist inappropriate development that would affect the character and attractiveness of our smaller communities. We will embrace the opportunities in the Localism Bill to give Parish Councils and community groups more responsibilities and opportunities.
For Trent Ward, I am committed to getting an improved train service at our village stations, to retaining the Fiskerton Tip and to improve protection against flooding such as occurred in Bleasby and Thurgarton in 2007.
I ask for your support so that, if re-elected, I can continue to represent you and all the residents of Trent Ward. I am the only candidate that lives in the Trent Ward, knows the Ward and cares for the Ward.
